Clouded leopards at The Naples Zoo

They met at The Naples Zoo last fall, and there’s hope sparks will fly! Masala, a male, and Tikka, a female, are clouded leopards, vulnerable to extinction and part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan that works to create sustainable populations of threatened and endangered species. Clouded leopards are paired before they are a year old and remain in that pairing for their lifetimes. Zoo visitors are encouraged to help save clouded leopards by reading grocery store labels and selecting products, from toothpaste to chocolate, that use sustainably grown palm oil, helping protect the leopard’s rainforest habitat.
