Our table is groaning with local produce. Tomatoes, strawberries, cucumbers, green and yellow squash, five kinds of peppers, two or three varieties of lettuce, kale, beet greens, collard greens, a warmweather variety of spinach, and fruit. All from within 20 or 30 miles of where I live. Full Story

Computer hackers managed to hijack a digital road sign in Austin, Texas, a few weeks ago and change its message to "Zombies Ahead." It was a whimsical warning for that stretch of Texas road, but could have served as a deadly earnest statement about the U.S. economy. Full Story
