Red Cross seeks volunteers for Taste, golfers for fourth annual tournament

The American Red Cross Collier County Chapter is seeking volunteers to help at the 26th annual Taste of Collier on Sunday, May 3, at Bayfront. Shifts begin with set-up at 6:30 a.m. and continuing through breakdown at 4 p.m. Jobs include ticket sales, general admission sales, poster/Tshirt sales, beverage booth, relief duty, children's activities, traffic control, trash control, photography and counting tickets. Anyone interested in helping should call Jerry Welty at 596-6868 ext. 13 or e-mail weltyj@comcast.net.

The chapter is also signing up participants for a golf tournament that tees off at The Club at TwinEagles with an 8 a.m. shotgun start Friday, June 5. Breakfast will be served at 7 a.m., and an awards luncheon will follow. Chairman of the tournament for the third year is Amy Schneider Owen.

"We are truly up to the challenge of creating more revenue for the American Red Cross through this golf tournament, so that victims of disasters in Collier County will continue to be helped, even during these tough economic times," Ms. Owen says.

Teams are forming now and sponsorships are available. For more information, call MaryLee Conner at 596-6868 ext. 12.
