All Star Jam brings big names in music to downtown Fort Myers
The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in downtown Fort Myers presents the All Star Jam with artists including Jeff “Skunk” Baxter (The Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan) and Kenny Aronoff (The Smashing Pumpkins). The outdoor concert on the street in front of the center begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25. A pre-show begins at 4 p.m.
Other artists in the lineup include: Barry Goudreau and Fran Sheehan of Boston; Rick Derringer of the McCoys (“Hang on Sloopy”) and The Edgar Winter Group; Mousey Thompson of the James Brown Experience; Leroy Romans from the Wailers; Steve Luongo; David Hull; Robin Zander, lead singer of Cheap Trick; and Doug Bell from the Bellview Cadillacs.
During the concert, artist Victor-Hugo Vaca Jr., “The Voice of the Lied-To Generation,” will create a work of art that reflects the music, the audience and the venue. Mr. Vaca begins each of his shows with a blank canvas and imbues the work with the vibe of the audience and the music. Fusing the journalistic style of Hunter S. Thompson and the cryptic art of Salvador Dali, he creates a work of art to memorialize the event.
Tickets with seating are $40 in advance, $50 at the door; standing admission is $20 and $25. Food and drink will be available for purchase. To buy tickets or for more information, call 333-1933 or visit www.sbdac.com. ¦
