Bonita Bay Club hosts tennis classic

Eighteen of the world’s top touring tennis professionals will gather at Bonita Bay Club Friday and Saturday, March 2-3, for matches, mini-clinics, a pro-am competition and a dinner-dance gala. The FineMark Tour Players Tennis Classic will benefit Barbara’s Friends and a new pediatric pharmacy planned for the expansion of The Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.

Participating tennis pros include titleholders from Wimbledon, the U.S. Open, French Open and the Olympics. All events are open to the public.

Tickets for Friday include two doubles matches, dinner, beverage tickets and a special club “Access Book” for discounted golf, tennis and dining privileges, sponsored by Bonita Bay Club and The Club at Mediterra.

Four events are scheduled for Saturday, beginning with breakfast with the pros at 9 a.m. The pro-am competition starts at 10 a.m., with one touring pro on each court helping participants improve their games while playing mini-sets.

At noon the Wells Fargo Kids Cup Challenge gives local pediatric cancer survivors the chance to swing with the pros. Pediatric cancer survivors and siblings interested in participating should call 343-6950 to reserve spots.

At 2 p.m. the touring pros will conduct mini-clinics to help participants improve specific areas of their games.

The event finale is a gala dinnerdance and live auction at Bonita Bay Club Saturday evening. Cocktails will be served at 6 p.m. and dinner at 7:30.
