‘Third on Canvas’ brings artists out to work en plein air

At 2011’s “Third on Canvas” COURTESY PHOTO More than three dozen artists, including John Stobart, one of the world’s premier maritime painters, will set up their easels and break out their brushes to work en plein air when “Third on Canvas” comes to Third Street South from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, March 12-13. Painters will also be set up near Palm Cottage, in Crayton Cover and on the beach near the pier.

A few days later, from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, March 18, Sea Salt restaurant will host the traditionally spirited auction during which all the finished and freshly framed paintings will be sold to the highest bidders, with Naples City Councilman and former Mayor Bill Barnett serving as celebrity auctioneer.

Tickets to the auction are $125 per person. Proceeds benefit the Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida. Call 343-6950 to purchase tickets or for more information.
