Night of Honors shines spotlight on NABOR stars

The Naples Area Board of Realtors held its annual Night of Honors celebration in early April. The highest honor — Realtor of the Year — was presented to Mike Hughes. Mr. Hughes has served on more committees at the local, state and national level than can be counted. Notable positions include: former director of the National Association of Realtors, 2015 president of NABOR, 2009 NABOR Citizen of the Year and current director of the Florida Association of Realtors and vice president of District 5 for FAR.

NABOR Past President Rick Fioretti served as Night of Honor master of ceremony. His first order of business was to welcome 24 members into the NABOR Honor Society, many of whom were also added to the FAR Honor Society. The new inductees are: Rick Baranski, Ryan Bleggi, Peter Bobris, Nick Bobzien, Brett Brown, Christine Citrano, Jeri Cobb, Harley Conrad, Christina Davidow, Brenda Fioretti, Rick Fioretti, Susan Hubly, Mike Hughes, Jeff Jones, Priscilla Kellerhouse, Wes Kunkle, Dana Mount, Dominic Pallini, Jim Pilon, Pat Pitocchi, Cheryl Poteet, Bill Poteet, Paula Angelopoulos Urbinati, Terrilyn VanGorder and Brigit Wolf.

Mr. Fioretti then presented longtime NABOR members Arleen Carozza, JB Novelli, Judy Price, Ray Carroll and Lloyd Bowein with the 2016 Emeritus Status Award, in recognition of 40 cumulative years of membership in NAR and in recognition of their valuable and lasting contributions to the real estate profession in the community.

The annual Ad Miller Award was presented to Sally Masters in honor of her work to enhance and/or preserve private property rights, ownership and transferability and the free enterprise system. Ms. Masters’ work has included being NABOR’s key contact for Garrett Richter during his terms in the Florida Senate and House of Representatives. She also organized the annual legislative update forums that bring local state legislators to meet with NABOR members after each year’s session. On a personal level, Ms. Masters, whose son serves in the Marines, formed www.Adopt-ASoldier.org, which prepares and sends meals and other essentials to soldiers from our area that are serving overseas.

NABOR President Dominic Pallini presented the 2017 Hall of Fame Award to Michele Harrison in recognition of her extraordinary dedication and service over 20 years of membership in NABOR. In addition to serving as NABOR president in 2005 and being names Realtor of the Year In 2009, Ms. Harrison has consistently been involved in numerous NABOR committees and in other organizations, including the Collier Building Industry Association, the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Collier and the Florida Home Builders Association. She is a current board member of the Naples Therapeutic Riding Center and serves on the President’s Council for Hodges University.
