The Naples Children & Education Foundation, founders of the Naples Winter Wine Festival, joins with Sea Salt and The Wine Store for a new virtual dining series, “Purposeful Pairings,” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25. The event supports local restaurants and helps the organization fulfill its mission to support underprivileged and at-risk children in Collier County. The menu includes some of Chef Fabrizio Aielli’s signature dishes and “tips and tricks” on how to make a perfect risotto, presented by Aielli Group’s Corporate Chef Jason Goddard. Sommeliers Liset Zelaya of Sea Salt, wine portfolio specialist Marcello Palazzi, and Bruce Nichols, owner of The Wine Store, will guide participants through the wines. The presentation will last 90 minutes. The menu includes a sea urchin appetizer with Domaine Papagiannakos, Attiki Assyrtiko 2019; a lobster risotto entrée with Castello di Neive Barbaresco 2017; and a white truffle panna cotta with Henri Champliau Wild Miss Méthode Ancestrale Rosé Demi-Sec.

The appetizer and dessert will already be prepared, and Chef Jason will demonstrate exactly how to create the entrée. Participants will go to Sea Salt the day prior between the hours of noon and 4 p.m. to pick up the menu ingredients and the wines. The cost is $350 per couple.

St. Katherine Greek Orthodox Church offers a Friday “Taste of Greece” Drive-Thru from noon-7 p.m. each Friday in October. Dorona hosts a Tastes of Tuscany Wine Dinner at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 14. Marcello Palazzi, Naples’ official Italian wine ambassador, will lead participants through an evening of Tuscany’s finest wines paired alongside a customized menu. Tastings include two Super Tuscan wines and two classical Italian wines. The menu features scallops carpaccio, gnocchi with wild boar ragu, New York strip, braised venison and panforte di Siena with vanilla gelato. The cost is $125 per person.

The Local kicked off a U.S. Wine Tour on Oct. 1 to highlight up and coming artisanal wines from one wine growing region per month, pairing them with dishes created by Chef Jeff and his team. In addition, the wines will enhance the seasonal ingredients used in the specials. October’s wines are from Oregon; November features Napa Valley wines; December is U.S. sparkling wines; January is Sonoma wines; February is Washington State; and March is Santa Barbara.
